The Cincinnati Reds trade Kyle Lohse to the Phillies
The Reds took advantage of the Phillies need for a starting pitcher by trading them Kyle Lohse for lefty starting pitcher Matt Maloney. Maloney was ranked as the Phillies #9 prospect before the season started according to Baseball America. Maloney has started 21 games in AA-ball this season and he was 9-7 with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. In 125.2 innings Maloney allowed 117 hits, walked 45 batters and whiffed 115. The Reds shouldn’t miss Lohse too much no matter who they replace him with. He started 21 games this season for the Reds and he was 6-12 with a 4.58 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. He threw 131.2 innings for them and he allowed 143 hits, walked 33 batters and whiffed 80.
