The Reds have called up 26-year old lefty starter Matt Maloney to start tonight’s game and replace Harang in the rotation. Maloney has started 15 games in AAA-ball this season and he is 6-5 with a 3.50 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. I look for Maloney to do a solid job for the Reds.

The Reds have placed 35-year old righty reliever Mike Lincoln on the 15-day disabled list with a strained side. Lincoln has pitched in 19 games (0 starts) for the Reds this year and he is 1-0 with a 7.32 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP. The Reds have recalled 25-year old righty reliever Logan Ondrusek to replace Lincoln in the pen. He was with the Reds earlier this season working in 9 games (0 starts) in which he was 0-0 with a 11.25 ERA and a 2.13 WHIP. The Reds hope Ondrusek will be better this time around.

The Reds have placed 29-year old righty swinging catcher Ryan Hanigan on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb. Hanigan has played in 27 games this season for the Reds and he is 27 of 77 (.351 avg, .975 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 2 homers and 17 RBIs. This is a bad break for Hanigan who was playing the best baseball of his major league career. This injury makes Ramon Hernandez the full time starter behind the plate for the Reds. The Reds have recalled 33-year old righty swinging Corky Miller to replace Hanigan on the active roter. Miller has already played in 1 game for the Reds this year but he hasn’t batted. Miller has played in 168 games in his major league career and he is 77 of 430 (.179 avg, .552 OPS) with 36 runs scored, 9 homers and 50 RBIs.
